Welcome to Royal Estate

We are delighted to introduce you to Chikmagalur, a forested hill town in the state of Karnataka, India. You may not have heard of it but there’s a good chance you’ve already tasted something grown there. From rich coffees to exquisite spices like vanilla, cardamom and black pepper, this region produces some of the world’s most flavorful crops.

India is one of the top five producers of black pepper globally, and Karnataka—alongside Kerala—is at the heart of this. The peppercorns grown here are known for their high essential oil content and distinct flavor profile: bold, woody and citrusy; shaped by the mountain climate and shaded forest canopy.

Most of the time, these spices reach you through global supply chains that blend origins and obscure the story. Labels might say “premium pepper blend,” but they rarely tell you where the spice truly came from. That’s what we’re here to change.

Rooted In Tradition. Grown With Intention.

Royal Estate is a fourth-generation family-owned coffee estate. For over 100 years, we’ve grown areca nut, bananas, black pepper, citrus, cocoa, vanilla and so much more — always in harmony with the land. Our black pepper grows as a companion crop amidst our coffee estate, thriving in the cool mountain air and rich soil. We hand-harvest and sun-dry our peppercorns with care—just as our ancestors did.

From Our Hillside To Your Table

We’re proud to now bring our black pepper directly to you. No middlemen. No blending. Just fresh, whole peppercorns, packed at the source, full of bold aroma and flavor. This is single-origin spice—traceable and sustainable. As we grow, we will bring you more offerings from our region, and continue to highlight small estates who share our values of quality, transparency, and ecological farming.

Thank you for supporting our family-owned business!
